(Nashville, TN) – On November 7, twenty (20) Holladay Properties’ volunteers joined forces with Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville, TN to pack boxes of food to send to Florida to provide hurricane relief. The devastation of Hurricane Irma that hit Florida in early September is still being felt by many communities (children, families, and seniors); they need our help. In partnership with Feeding America and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Second Harvest has been packing food boxes over several weeks to provide nourishment and hope to those in great need.

“We came, we saw, we filled 1,680 boxes (80 man hours and 20 pallets), we conquered. Go Holladay!” exclaimed Greg Blakey, Director of Engineering.

Holladay in the Community (HIC) volunteers worked on an assembly line to pack the food boxes. Each box included a quart of 2% shelf stable milk, 1 can of tuna, 2 cans of beans, 2 cans of soup, 2 cans of spaghetti, 2 cans of applesauce, 1 jar of peanut butter, and 8 single servings of cereal.

“Going to Second Harvest Food Bank and giving back is definitely eye opening! It puts into perspective how many people were affected by Mother Nature the past few months,” said Nikki Arnold, Senior Lead Accountant. “I recently traveled to the Ft. Lauderdale area for the HCP Florida Budget Meeting and saw the impact first hand. Knowing that the boxes are going to Florida made the experience hit home. I am definitely proud to be a part of HIC!”
