(Miami, FL) - The management team at Mercy Professional Building I & II in Miami, FL sponsored a December Toy Drive to collect boys and girls toys for children between the ages of 3 and 8. The collection was a huge success and on December 19, Holladay team member, Jackie Villamayor and Catherine Hernandez, and a Mercy Hospital team member delivered the toys to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
"The children sang holiday carols to us and made hand crafted Thank you Cards. It was a magical afternoon, the children were all so happy," said Catherine Hernandez. "Personally, the true meaning of Christmas was seeing the children full of joy, with gleaming eyes and big smiles! Giving back to the community is rewarding and brings Peace within!"
Holladay was particularly overwhelmed by the generosity of Dr. Angela Giron at Mercy Professional Building I – Suite 1002, who donated two large boxes of toys and two large Target bags filled with boys and girls toys. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this event a success.
(Kansas City, MO) - In lieu of a holiday party for tenants, Holladay Properties' management office in Kansas City hosted a book drive for a local charity, Operation Breakthrough. The organization is a haven for children to stay while their parents find and secure employment, enabling them to support their families. Volunteers care for infants to school-aged children, providing tutoring and support through high school, as well as investigate scholarship opportunities for higher education.
"David Lucas, Bennett Hughes and I are thrilled that so many of our tenants actively participated by donating new and gently-used books for Operation Breakthrough's 'birthday book closet,' where children can 'shop' for their birthday gifts of age-appropriate reading materials," said Sara Madson, Property Manager for Holladay Properties. "In past years, we have hosted breakfast and donut holiday events, and we know our tenants appreciate that the benefit of these worthwhile contributions far exceed any party gifts and treats."
Countless local businesses work with this establishment, and Holladay Properties is honored and proud to be added to the list of active supporters and contributors.

Holladay Properties' South Bend office hosted the annual Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 12 at LaSalle Elementary in Mishawaka, IN. Holladay had a total of 17 volunteers who teamed up with with about seven Boys & Girls Club staff members. The party began with Paul Phair leading a trivia contest to see which tables could get their pizza first and our volunteers also sang a few Christmas carols before and after the children ate. After pizza, the older kids built and decorated gingerbread houses. We put together eight groups of between 4-6 kids with a Holladay team member leading and encouraging them, but not doing the project for them. While the older kids build their houses, the younger kids played BINGO and made snowmen out of clothespins. Then, after all the crafts, the kids played games in the gym including pin the nose on Rudolph and Frosty, life size checkers, bowling and basketball.

For a third year, Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, which provides new clothing and/or toys for children of needy families, was promoted by Holladay Properties. The joy of having gifts to open on Christmas was made possible for 49 children because of the generosity of the team members in Nashville, TN. On Halloween, the Elm Hill Pike (Nashville, TN) office held a Chili, Soup and Stew Cook-off and Dessert Cook-off where a fee was charged to those wanting to taste and vote; the proceeds from that event sponsored 8 angels. Then, employees individually sponsored an additional 41 angels. Sponsors selected angel tags from a tree in the office, purchased appropriate gifts for the children, and delivered the unwrapped gifts on December 3. The gifts were then delivered to the Salvation Army to be distributed in time for Christmas.

(Indianapolis, IN) - On a warm Friday afternoon at the Indy Urban Acres Farm in Indianapolis, a group of Holladay Properties volunteers put on their work gloves with shovels in hand to clean up a chicken coop, pull weeds, and lay down fresh mulch to get the property ready for the annual Farmraiser event on September 22. The volunteers spent a grueling day working hard for the collection of four organic farms that donates 100% of its produce to food pantries and low-income families. Indy Urban Acres was established in 2011 to empower and educate people by providing equitable access to free, high quality produce. The farm works to educate thousands of youth through tours and farm-to-plate workshops, provide community engagement to volunteers and groups, and teach teens valuable job skills.
