October 25, 2018
Holladay Properties and HCG (Holladay Construction Group) participated in the JA of Northwest Indiana Bowl-a-thon event on Thursday, October 25. The fun-filled event supports Junior Achievement programing in Northwest Indiana and was chaired by Jessica Vargas, Project Architect for Holladay Properties. Holladay Properties and HCG provided two teams from the Portage office, who took home 1st prize in costume contest for their Holladay-Holidays costumes. The Holladay Properties partners also provided two teams who took home 2nd and 3rd place trophies in the bowling competition. Learn more on the Holladay Properties blog.

Thirteen Holladay Properties employees, family, and friends from the Florida region came together on September 29 at the Plantation Baptist Church to help get ready for the annual Christmas Lights in the Acres event. The Christmas Light Extravaganza draws visitors from the tri-county area upwards of 15,000 people each year. The Holladay in the Community volunteers spent 5 hours assisting the church in getting all of their lights out of their storage warehouse out to the area where the set up takes place. Holladay Properties volunteers included: Jaqueline Fermin, Francisco Fermin, Matt Poncy, Catherine Hernandez, Jackie Villamayor, Melissa Melendres, Henry Rodriguez, Camilo Basail, Alfonso Betancur, as well as their family and friends.

On September 26, employees from the South Bend corporate headquarters, Holladay Construction Group and the Hilton Garden Inn gathered together at Hope Ministries with one common goal: to see how we could be a part of defeating poverty in our community. The event was the kickoff to the Holladay Lives United Campaign. This year, Holladay Properties raised $15,307 during its 2 week campaign for the United Way of St. Joseph County. On September 15, 18 volunteers represented Holladay Team at the 2018 Heart Walk benefiting the America Heart Association at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The Holladay in the Community event raised $6,110, surpassing its $5,000 goal, to make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone. Our participation in Heart Walk promoted Holladay's commitment to serving its communities, as well as just being a fun way to stay active and promote healthy choices.

(Indianapolis, IN) - On a warm Friday afternoon at the Indy Urban Acres Farm in Indianapolis, a group of Holladay Properties volunteers put on their work gloves with shovels in hand to clean up a chicken coop, pull weeds, and lay down fresh mulch to get the property ready for the annual Farmraiser event on September 22. The volunteers spent a grueling day working hard for the collection of four organic farms that donates 100% of its produce to food pantries and low-income families. Indy Urban Acres was established in 2011 to empower and educate people by providing equitable access to free, high quality produce. The farm works to educate thousands of youth through tours and farm-to-plate workshops, provide community engagement to volunteers and groups, and teach teens valuable job skills. (Portage, IN) - Holladay Properties and HCG in Portage teamed up for the United Way for Porter County's Day of Caring. The hardworking volunteers spent the day landscaping outside and painting inside to transform an old farm house into a beautiful sanctuary for Family Promise, a nonprofit group dedicated to providing homeless families the help they need to get on their feet. Holladay first participated in the Day of Caring in 2008 and has put together a group of volunteers for 8 of the last 10 years.

(South Bend, IN) - Holladay Properties hosted a blood drive on Wednesday, July 25 in support of the South Bend Medical Foundation. For almost two months before the drive, recruiting efforts began to retrieve as many donors as possible. Posters were made, announcements were sent out to both staff and our downtown tenants, and the donor list began filling up. When event day came, the South Bend Medical Foundation parked their Bloodmobile in our executive parking spaces, prepared to take our donations. Members of the Holladay staff, neighboring businesses, and tenants from our downtown South Bend properties donated blood to help those in need. A total of 13 whole blood donations were accepted this year which has the potential to save 39 lives. The event was coordinated by Erin Noonan, Blood Donor Recruitment Specialist, from the South Bend Medical Foundation and Shelby Seifer of Holladay Properties.

On July 20, Nashville employees competed in a friendly cornhole tournament. The $5 entry fee and other donations went to the Holladay Team for the American Heart Association Walk. Participants competed in a bracket-style cornhole
tournament (aka bean bag toss) until a winner was declared. The competition was good, but Deborah Kautz, Corporate Accountant, came away with the win and has her name proudly inscribed on the Holladay Cup (perpetual trophy).

(Kansas City, MO) - Holladay Properties was a proud sponsor of the Reece-Nichols 2018 Golf Classic, which was held Thursday, June 14 in Raymore, MO. Sara Madson with Holladay’s Kansas City market represented as the management branch of the Reece-Holladay strategic partnership. The event benefits the ReeceNichols Benevolent Fund, which assists ReeceNichols agents during times of need and has raised more than $270,000 to help hundreds of employees get through difficult times.
(Indianapolis, IN) - Holladay Properties has been a proud supporter of the Decatur Central High Lady Hawks girls softball team this year. Our support, as well as others, helped get the team to the IHSAA State Championship in West Lafayette, which they won! This represents the Lady Hawks' first state title and we are happy to be a community partner of MSD Decatur Schools.

(Nashville, TN) - On May 11, Holladay employees spent an afternoon volunteering at Project C.U.R.E. in Nashville. Project C.U.R.E. (PC) is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. During the volunteer event, the group was split into two teams. One team of eight sorted thousands of medical supplies and the other team of six pulled boxes upon boxes of medical supplies to be sent to Afghanistan. The Nashville PC facility is a 58,000 square foot warehouse. PC delivers, on average, three semi-truck sized containers packed with medical relief each week, each valued at over $400,000 in supplies and has travel clinics to countries in need a dozen or more times a year.

(Miami, FL) - Holladay Properties staff from Florida and Nashville offices have been supporting the Tigerbots, of W.R. Thomas Middle School in Miami, FL on its road to the 2018 VEX IQ Challenge World Robotics Competition in Louisville, Ky. The Tigerbots were the Florida State Champions and competed against other top robotics teams April 29 to May 1 at the world championship. The team's final results were: #39 in Total Points scored for Qualification Matches out of 398 Teams; #9 in the Arts Division out of 80 Team; #5 in the Arts Division Final; #21 Overall in Division Finals; and Top 10% robot in the world. Henry Rodriguez, Property Manager (Miami, FL) had two nephews participating in the World Robotics Competition, including one on the Tigerbots team.

(Baltimore, MD) - On April 7, our Eastern Region office sponsored and participated in the 2018 Baltimore City State Attorney’s 5k Fund Run for Victim’s Assistance, an event which raises money for the Crime Victim’s Emergency Fund. Senior Vice President Austin Haynes pulled together a team of four and gathered with others in Druid Hill Park to run the 5K in support of the Crime Victim’s Emergency Fund, which provides victims of domestic violence, robbery, assault and child abuse in the community with immediate care and assistance. “The event was a terrific success and a lot of money was raised for a terrific cause,” Haynes said of the event.
