October 19, 2020

(Portage, IN) The Portage and LaGrange Holladay offices teamed up with the American Red Cross on Monday, October 19 for a blood drive. The drive took place from 10 AM to 4 PM CST at 6625 Daniel Burnham Drive, Suite C, Portage, IN 46368. Due to Red Cross COVID-19 safety regulations, donors were asked to check-in at a table that was manned by three different Holladay volunteers during the day, before they could head to the bloodmobile to donate. The Portage drive surpassed its goal and had 24 people register, including 9 first time donors, and collected 20 pints of blood, which will be used to enrich 60 lives.

September 16, 2020

(Portage, IN) On a beautiful Wednesday morning in Portage, IN, seven Holladay volunteers arrived at the Prairie Duneland Trail tunnel located at Willowcreek Road to give the tunnel a fresh paint job for the Portage Parks and Recreation Department. The volunteers included Mike Micka, Lydia Amado, Scott Trueblood, Nick Sebert, Laura Small, Jessica Vargas, and Michelle Mosier who spent four hours painting the expansive tunnel, which had been sprayed with graffiti. The Portage office arranged this volunteer project to take the place of the Porter County United Way's Day of Caring, which usually takes place in August each year, but was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19. The team worked with the Portage Parks and Recreation Department to plan this project, which was a Parks Department initiative that Holladay was happy to complete. 

July 28, 2020

(Downers Grove, IL) The Management Team at the Burlington Station luxury multi-family residential community hosted its Second Annual Blood Drive on July 28. Cara Pagels coordinated the event for the property, which succeeded in meeting its goal of 24 donors. Every blood donation can save three lives, so these 24 donors have the potential to impact 72 lives! 

July 1, 2020

(Nashville, TN) - Our Nashville team hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive at its Donelson Plaza office on July 1, which had 21 donors. The Red Cross collected 18 units during the event, which represents 54 potential lives saved. 

June 24, 2020

(Portage, IN) - In celebration of the reopening of El Salto and Big Time Burgers & Brew after the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a way to support local tenants and community partners, the Portage office offered each of its associates vouchers to use at the restaurants on Wednesday, June 24. The voucher initiative was inspired by a program offered by MonoSol and was designed to support local businesses, as well as thank the associates for their great work during the crisis and their continued efforts to make Holladay a great place to work.

June 2020

(Castleton, IN) - On January 9, 2020, the WoodSpring Suites hotel in Castleton, IN opened as the 400th Choice Hotels property. A Grand Opening celebration had been planned for March 26, but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was postponed. Holladay had teamed up with the property's management company, J & P Asset Management, to support a local community organization, Gigi's Playhouse in a fundraiser that was supposed to have taken place during the Grand Opening. Even though the event was canceled, Holladay and J & P Asset Management donated their pledged total of $2,000 Gigi's Playhouse, a group dedicated to providing support to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

(Manassas, VA) - Austin Haynes, SVP-Development (Eastern Region) teamed up with the City of Manassas, Virginia to deliver a video message about how Holladay is adapting its construction processes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. March 6, 2020

(Portage, IN) - On Friday March 6, 10 Holladay associates dressed in their finest prom-wear to attend the Junior Achievement of  Chicago/Northwest Indiana Fourth Annual Prom Gala at Avalon Manor in Merrillville, IN. The attendees included Jessica Vargas, Project Architect (Portage, IN), a Board Member of Junior Achievement of Chicago/NWI Division, and Drew Mitchell, VP-Development (LaGrange, IL), a Board Member of Junior Achievement of Chicago. Holladay was a Pep Rally Sponsor of the event and was recognized as an Outstanding Corporate Champion for the firm's continued support of JA. In addition, Drew Mitchell was honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award.

February 28, 2020

(Portage,IN) - On Friday, February 28, Holladay volunteers visited Portage High School to participate in the Junior Achievement of Chicago Northwest Indiana Division (JA NWI) Inspire Career Day. Holladay volunteers participated as exhibitors at the Career Fair and classroom presenters for the JA Soft Skills program. Presenters spend the time with a classroom of approximately 23 students, helping the students build soft skills that make people employable, such as teamwork, time management, and communication skills. February 7, 2020

On Friday, February 7, several Holladay offices joined the fight against heart disease in women by participating in the American Heart Associations' National Wear Red Day, a simple but powerful way to raise awareness for this important issue. Launched in 2004, Go Red for Women is a global initiative to end heart disease and stroke in women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women and it kills more women than all other forms of cancer combined. The Go Red for Women movement is dedicated to removing barriers to health and well-being that women face. 

February 6, 2020

On February 6, five employees from Holladay’s Nashville corporate office participated in Junior Achievement’s JA Our Families, a one-day program held in the classrooms of first-graders. JA Our Families is an interdisciplinary program that supports the attainment of academic standards in entrepreneurship, with a secondary focus on social studies, business, economics, ethics, reading, writing, and mathematics.

The Holladay volunteers delivered the hands-on classroom activities as designed by JA through a kit-based program that included five 30-minute sessions. The team taught in pairs: Tiffany Coursey, SVP-Human Resources, with a volunteer from another company; Marcy Coffman, Executive Assistant/Office Manager, with Sarah Rexrode, AR Specialist; and Grace Ledbetter, Controller-Development, with Ben Dance, Architect.

Following participation in the JA Our Families program, some of the abilities students will have include describing similarities/differences in families, understanding that families must earn money to pay for wants/needs, and identifying goods/services provided by local businesses.

JA USA is committed to developing and implementing programs designed to help students acquire the knowledge and economic reasoning skills to make sound financial decisions. In the 2018/2019 cycle, JA of Middle Tennessee impacted 36,755 students in 1,687 classrooms, with 1,401 educators and 2,768 volunteers, for 328,645 contact hours.

December 20, 2019

(Portage, IN) - The Portage Office has completed its 100 Acts of Kindness challenge. The final seven acts were completed in the days leading up to the Holladay Properties Indiana offices holiday party on December 20, with the final act, donating blankets to a homeless shelter, completed the night before the event. Holladay is extremely proud of the Portage office for banding together to enrich lives, setting a great example of living up to Holladay Properties' Mission, Vision, and Values! 

December 19 & 20, 2019

(Nashville, TN) - Holladay Properties’ employees in Nashville volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville to sort and distribute toys that were collected by country duo Florida Georgia Line. In the spirit of the season, Florida Georgia Line (“FGL”) shared their “Blessings” while ushering in the holidays and inspired fans to join them and “always take time to count your blessings.”

From December 3 through December 18, FGL teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville for a Toy Drive to bring joy to Middle Tennessee families in need. On December 19, the new unwrapped children’s toys and art supplies for all ages were sorted by Holladay employees at the Habitat ReStore. Then, on December 20, Holladay employees volunteered to distribute the toys to Habitat for Humanity homeowners.

December 18, 2019

(South Bend, IN) - Holladay Properties' South Bend office hosted the annual Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 18 at LaSalle Elementary in Mishawaka, IN. Holladay had a total of 12 volunteers who teamed up with with Boys & Girls Club staff members to provide an amazing party for a great group of kids. The Holladay volunteers served pizza and juice bags, sang Christmas carols, played Christmas trivia and BINGO, made gingerbread houses and other crafts. 

December 17, 2019

(South Bend, IN) - On Tuesday, December 17, 18 Holladay Properties volunteers participated in Distribution Day for the Salvation Army Kroc Center in South Bend. The volunteers came in shifts with 10 associates covering the morning shift from 7 AM to Noon, and 8 coming in for the afternoon shift from Noon to 5 PM. Our volunteers served as porters (taking bags out to the cars), people working on the food truck (handing out food), people in the Toy Shop (helping clients shop for toys), people in the Clothes Shop (sorting clothes) and people directing traffic. 

December 13, 2019

(Nashville, TN) - At the Nashville holiday party, held on Friday, December 13, associates enjoyed a catered lunch, announcements, and a teambuilding activity...for a cause. The teambuilding activity was facilitated by HeartStrings Foundation, a group dedicated to healing hearts with the power of music, and emceed by Rowan Pickering, founder. Seven “bands” were formed with the task of building and decorating a playable electric guitar, designing their album cover, rewriting the lyrics to a song or making up one on their own, and performing their song. Each “band” then chose for Heartstrings to donate its finished guitar to go to a child in Children’s Hospital or to a military veteran.

December 11, 2019

(Portage, IN) - As part of its 100 Acts of Kindness Challenge, the Portage Office adopted and Angel Tree child through Housing Opportunities, a community-sustained nonprofit that resolves and prevents homelessness for adults, children, and seniors in Porter and LaPorte counties. The Portage team pulled together and gave generously, collecting nearly $400 to provide a great Christmas for a 12-year-old boy in the community. Michelle Mosier and Jessica Vargas led the charge for this Act of Kindness and used the donations to purchase gifts for the child, including a fishing pole and gear, a scooter and helmet, hats and gloves, a warm blanket, and gift cards.
