Holladay Properties signs Master Developer agreement with Town of Burns Harbor

(Portage, IN) – Holladay Properties has entered into a Master Development Agreement with the Town of Burns Harbor Redevelopment Commission (RDC) for 32-acres of land at Haglund Road and IN-149 in Burns Harbor, IN. Holladay Properties’ Portage office will lead this project and will begin by working with the RDC, the Town, and others to update the Town’s comprehensive plan.

In November 2018, Holladay responded to the Town of Burns Harbor’s Request For Qualifications for a Master Developer for the Town Center Development Area and, in February, Holladay was selected from among the finalists to be the Master Developer. Now that the Town has completed an acquisition of 28-acres of land from the Duneland School Corporation, planning can begin.

“Many have offered ideas for now this site should be developed. It is now our task to do the research to understand what really is the highest and best use of this site,” said A.J. Monroe, VP-Planning & Development for Holladay Properties, who is leading this project for Holladay. “We believe the development of the Burns Harbor Town Center will strengthen Burns Harbor’s position in Northwest Indiana and greater Chicagoland as a destination community.”

Holladay is an expert on planning, design and development of master-planned land sites, including five AmeriPlex-branded business parks in Portage, IN; Merrillville, IN; Indianapolis, IN; South Bend, IN and Nashville, TN; the LifeWorks Business Park in Michigan City, IN; Airport Logistics Park in Nashville, TN; and Winding Brook near Richmond, VA. Holladay’ goal is to design, build and fill quality, sustainable projects and build true partnerships to create a vision, follow through and properly execute all aspects to make the development a success.

“We will assure that this is not a planning process but a pathway to development that grows tax base, creates jobs and improves quality of life,” Holladay Properties Partner and Vice President, Mike Micka said.
