(Portage, IN) On a beautiful Wednesday morning in Portage, IN, seven Holladay volunteers arrived at the Prairie Duneland Trail tunnel located at Willowcreek Road to give the tunnel a fresh paint job for the Portage Parks and Recreation Department. The volunteers included Mike Micka, Lydia Amado, Scott Trueblood, Nick Sebert, Laura Small, Jessica Vargas, and Michelle Mosier who spent four hours painting the expansive tunnel, which had been sprayed with graffiti. The Portage office arranged this volunteer project to take the place of the Porter County United Way’s Day of Caring, which usually takes place in August each year, but was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19. The team worked with the Portage Parks and Recreation Department to plan this project, which was a Parks Department initiative that Holladay was happy to complete.
