(Portage, IN) – On Friday, September 6, twelve volunteers from Holladay’s Northwest Indiana/Chicago region arrived at the Habitat for Humanity of Porter County Faith Build site in Portage for a day of hard work benefitting a local family. The Faith Build is a grant program offered by Thrivent Financial that offers to match funds from local Christian organizations, which include monetary donations as well as volunteers hours and in-kind donations.

Jessica Vargas, a Project Architect for Holladay Properties, is on the board for Habitat for Humanity of Porter County and coordinated Holladay’s participation in the Build. The project fit in well with Holladay’s history of serving their communities and Tim Healy’s recent challenge to employees to serve with purpose and affect people’s lives.

The volunteers from Holladay started the day with a bang and completed more projects than were expected. The volunteers performed a variety of projects including, window installation, installing roofing baffle vents, cutting out doorway openings, shoring up roofing supports, completing blocking for the drywall installation, and they even started installing the siding.

The Faith Build project broke ground in August and, with assistance from volunteers like the Holladay group, is expected to be completed ahead of schedule in November. For more information about Habitat for Humanity of Porter County, visit www.portercountyhabitat.org.
